Sweet Potato Hash {Recipe}

In my earlier Thanksgiving Game Plan  post, I mentioned I was bringing Sweet Potato Hash to my moms house for Thanksgiving! Well as requested, here is the recipe!
 
 
 
 
SWEET POTATO HASH
 
Ingredients:
- 2 large sweet potatoes
-2 tbsps of coconut oil (I used EVOO)
-2tbsps of brown sugar
- sprinkle of cinnamon
 
 
1. Place frying pan on med to med high heat.
2. Place 2 tablespoons of coconut oil in a pan.
3. Cut 2 large sweet potatoes into slices the quarter the slices.
4. Place sliced sweet potatoes in frying pan.
5. Add brown sugar and cinnamon to the sweet potatoes.
6. Let it cook for 10 -12 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Sweet potatoes should be fork soft with brown crispy edges.

Thanksgiving day GAME PLAN

Isn't it crazy that Thanksgiving is in just 2 days? Countdown to Christmas is less than one month!

Did you know the average American consumes over 4500 calories and 200 grams of fat on Thanksgiving? And then of course you have to have leftovers the next day...and the next. Then what happens next, oh cookie baking parties and Christmas parties and the week of Christmas. This is making my jeans feel tight just thinking about it.
 

 Ok off track, that's not what I want to talk about right now. I want to help you stay on track this Thanksgiving- if that's what you want to do for yourself! This isn't going to be strict and boring like you may think. I'm not going to tell YOU not to have some wine or treat yourself to a piece of pumpkin roll if that's what I'M doing. Its just not how I roll! What I am going to give you is some tipskis on not going cray cray (I still can't believe I use that term lol).
 
 
#1. WORKOUT! Thanksgiving is no excuse not to get your workout in. If you're going out Turkey day eve, lets just put it out there---- I don't really see this happening for you. You're already off track- skip to #2.(except start with Shakeology as your hangover cure!) Start Thanksgiving with a good sweat sesh . T25 is my scheduled workout for Thursday so it'll be a quick one! Then I'll switch out my usual lunch which is Shakeology, and have it for breakfast instead. Our Thanksgiving "dinner" is usually around 2pm. I will enjoy myself but focus on proper portion sizes. Also remind yourself of your goals you have set for yourself and start with some positive self talk! 

 
#2. THE Plate- When making your plate, first put lean meat and veggies on your plate. Then choose sides that you really WANT, not what you think you haaave to have since its Thanksgiving. Sometimes we put things on our plate that we don't really enjoy just because we think it's a tday sin not to. Also make sure you're still drinking alot of water especially if you're having wine too.
 
 
#3. SIDES- If you are hosting, Google is your best friend if you're looking for ways to clean up your favorite dishes. I'm going to my moms so I'll be making my recently favorite "sweet potato hash". If you're going somewhere, bring a healthy dish that you know you can enjoy guilt free. Don't try to "save calories" by not eating anything til dinner (who hasn't done this). It may sound like the right thing to do, but when it's time to eat you're going to be STARVING and you're gonna go to town *see calorie count up top.

 
#4. TRAVEL-If you are traveling far, pack a cooler. You can bring your Shakeology, apples, almonds, protein bars, precut veggies, hard boiled eggs, egg muffins, fruit, pre portioned oatmeal (with 1 scoop of oats, protein powder and dried fruit. Add hot water and breakfast is a go!) You don't want to know whats in Starbucks or McDonald's oatmeal, so don't say I didn't give you another option!
 
 
#5.BE STRONG-  Ignore the "healthy haters". Most likely there will be someone who comments on your plate. They may even guilt you into eating more. Just brush off the comments- you know why you are making the healthy choices that you are! Be proud of yourself.
 

 
 #6. THANKS- Don't forget to GIVE THANKS for the body you were given and the knowledge that is at your fingertips to make changes. Small changes lead to big progress!

Bikini Mom Bod Update

Last week I posted my latest progress pic on Facebook. I would be lying if I said I didn't hesitate when posting it.
You know...as a coach I sometimes feel like I should already have my goal body. I work out... I eat cleaner...I motivate others to do the same.
 
 
But as women, we tend to nit pick at things we don't like about ourselves. Have you ever said, "if I could just change one thing.."?! For me, my tough spot is the area above my 2 c sections. I mean- I seriously give myself a hard time about the area where I was practically cut in half and had a baby delivered from-TWICE.?!? When I think of it that way - that's crazy! 
 
 

 I was talking to a good friend about my hesitations on posting this pic. She reminded me that not only has this year proven to be a physical change for me, but a mental one as well. That even though I haven't reached some of my fitness goals yet, I care about others and helping them reach theirs. After looking at this picture of me pre kids party girl compared to the one I took this morning of the healthy mom of 2 kids - I'm going to be happy with how far I've come and not lose sight on where I want to be!! 
 

 So here is my current progress pic since having Ava (5/9/12)
 
I've done Insanity, Turbo Fire, Focus T25 and I'm currently doing a ChaLEAN Extreme and Focus T25 hybrid. I replace one meal a day with Shakeology and I eat try and eat clean 80% of the time. I'm just like you- Between those programs I've fallen off track here and there, but I get right back at it! I know what needs to be done and I do it. I need to start focusing on PROGRESS. I'm so far from where I was PRE kids and I've made alot of progress since being a coach for a year! YOU guys keep me motivated and striving for PROGRESS not PERFECTION! So THANK YOU!

A one time fee of $40 to become a beachbody coach. This is not a yearly or reoccurring fee.

A monthly website fee of $15. Beachbody gives you three canned websites where you can do some minor personalization. One site is a Beachbody site the other two sites are specialized Shakeology site and Ultimate Reset site (only available for sale through the Team Beachbody Coach network) . I have decided to create my own website and blog to share my experiences but it is not required.

To remain an active coach you need to have a Personal Volume (PV) of 50 points per month. Purchasing a month's supply of Shakeology (at a 25% discount) is 90PV for example and you're done. I agree with Team Beachbody's methodology that you need to use their product in order to be able to explain the benefits of the research they've done. Plus, their supplements actually taste a whole lot better than the other stuff I was using. Recovery drink... think orange creamsicle!

  • You receive a 25% commission on anything somebody buys from Beachbody using one of your links. Somebody purchases a copy of P90X, you get a check for $29.96.
  • You can, if you choose to, have a downline of coaches. Everything rolls up and there are a ton of bonuses you can earn. I have not received any pressure to push people to be coaches. In fact, many people choose to be coaches just for the discount and decide down the road to make it a business!
  • You receive a 25% discount on all Beachbody products including merchandise! If you're using supplements today like I am, just the discount savings alone on let's say P90x Protein Bars and P90X recovery drink covers the $15 monthly website fee.
  • You get paid on a weekly basis!
  • There is no inventory to carry, Beachbody takes care of everything.

The "big break" in losing weight!

 

 
Ahhh The Slight Edge. This book is such an eye opener. It's such an easy thing to implement into any aspect of your life. The little things in life you do - or don't do- will lead you closer or push you further from what you want.

"Believing in the 'big break' is worse than simply being futile. It's actually dangerous, because it can keep you from taking the actions you need to create the results you want."

So for the sake of talking about your health and fitness (c'mon you know that's where I was eventually going with this) are you going to join the gym again in January and do the same stuff again that didn't work last year? Maybe it worked for a little while but you didn't make it a LIFESTYLE. Doing what's necessary every to be the healthy, fit ,confident, good example person you want to be. So I'm wondering, what's holding you back? It's not matter of IF it will work for you- it will if you commit to putting yourself in the position to learn and change and do the little things that will lead you to the results you want. This isn't your "big break" but it is your answer:
Nutrition+Exercise+Support=SUCCESS

Fitness Friday- Week 6 ChaLEAN Extreme/T25 hybrid

I'm on week 2 of ChaLEAN Extreme/T25 hybrid. I just decided last week actually to switch from the ChaLean cardio workouts to T25 cardio workouts. This is what my schedule looks like:
 
 
During the PUSH phase of ChaLEAN extreme, Chalene challenges you to lift heavier and reach "failure". You are ony doing 6-8 reps of each exercise.
 
 
I myself opted for sneakers.
 
 
I did all evening workouts this week. With the exception of Wednesday and Friday, I had a workout buddy and we worked out after she got home from work. Morning workouts are a nice way to start the day, and you don't have to worry about it for the rest of the day, but I'll take a workout partner over that anyday!
Tuesday I had an absolute CRAZY day with the kids. We had a playdate which is always nice, however Nathan just wasn't feelin the sharing/listening thing. He was stressing me out, I'm not gonna lie! So I was kind of happy I waited until the end of the day (and that I had an accountability partner coming over to workout too haha) to do my T25 workout. I put myself in a 25 minute mommy time out and worked off some stress!
 
 
Wednesday was family night dinner and I worked out when I got home. I posted this on Monday and its so true, right??
 
 
Yesterday two of my workout buddies came over and they joined me for T25 ab intervals in the back garage! Its always nice to have friends to workout with!
 
 
Today was Pump 3 and then I have stretch on Sunday!
 
My meal plan looked like this. I'm still working with the 30 day Paleo Challenge, with some exceptions.
 
 
By far, my favorite breakfast!!!
 
 
I want to leave with one last thought......
We know the real answer to weight loss but sometimes we don't want to admit it. We know quick fixes are going to be temporary. We know the pills, not eating, the stuff (chemicals) to sprinkle over food isn't healthy- yet why do we try them? Because we want results and we want them now. Our lives are so immediate and everything at our fingertips. But when it comes to something like the body we live in, we can't take that approach. It didn't take over night to be unhappy win yourself and it won't be overnight to see results. I've talked about consistency but you also can't give up and throw in the towel if you don't see immediate results. You have to bring that positive attitude everyday to create a lasting change. I know my way of working out and eating healthier may not be what you want to do or put the work and time into... but trust me it's the only way to have the body you want for the rest of your life! 21 day Holiday Survival Guide

End of year update:
There are roughly 6 weeks until the New Year. Where do you see yourself in the next 6 weeks? I know the holidays can be tough. We're super busy, we're buying gifts, planning and attending parties, decorating and so on...I'm getting tired just thinking of it all. One thing I promise myself though is I will always carve out a little bit of time each day for me. Working out makes me a better mom, nonwifey and coach. I want to tell you a little plan I have to keep myself accountable and on track through the new year.
 
 
 
21 day {end of the year} BetterYou challenge!
 
 
 
This 21 day challenge will be a KICK START to a new you. Lets not wait until the new year. Don't renew your gym membership for the 4th time in a row because THIS time it will be different. Don't throw your hands up because there will be temptations all around with the holidays approaching. You can still enjoy yourself WHILE creating a new lifestyle. Put yourself first for once. I have tried lots of things through the years to try and lose weight and feel confident. Pills- Wrong, out working a bad diet-wrong, cutting down calorie consumption- wrong, slim fast- wrong, lean cuisines- wrong.... Beachbody programs, eating clean, Shakeology, accountability and support - DING DING! Winner winner chicken dinner. 

 


So as you can see this isn't about starvation diets, ab shockers (you won't muscle spasm yourself to a 6-pack) and forget the Sensa! We eat yummy REAL food without chemicals sprinkled on top!

So what is this group all about?
This is all about LIFE CHANGE... not getting "skinny"! We don't offer a QUICK FIX for the problems that have gotten you to where you are today and pretend that they are no longer there - those NEVER last... We go straight to the source of the problems and figure out how to overcome them, so that YOU can maintain your RESULTS! We talk meal planning, recipes, tips, motivation and accountability. This is a closed Facebook group, so no one sees what is posted except us!

You don't just leave with a better BODY, you graduate as a BOMBSHELL, someone who is beautiful from the INSIDE, OUT!

Take a step and find that inner confidence that you have been missing!
 
What are the requirements?
There are only 2 requirements. They are to
1. Be an active participant in the group. This means logging in for just a few minutes a day and posting.
2. Commit to replacing one meal a day with Shakeology for 30 days. This is required because I know its your daily dose of dense nutrition. Its one daily action I take that I know I'm giving my body everything it needs to properly function. Its helped me lose weight and maintain it, curb cravings, helps my energy and also helped me regulate my digestive system.
 
 
Working out isn't required, but strongly encouraged!! Nutrition, Exercise, and Sleep! Repeat. We can either discuss the right program for you or you can do what you're already doing!
 
"Pre-season" starts this upcoming Monday (11/25) and the online challenge group will start December 2nd! We will end right before Christmas and right before family photo ops ;)

FASQ, Transformation Thursday & Nutter Butter Shakeology Recipe!

Wow thats a really long title for a post lol, I'm making up for lost time, ok?! I have lots of stuff for you today!!!
 
So first off! I missed last weeks (maybe the week before too??) FASQ (frequently asked Shakeology question) But I'm trying to do it on the reg!

What ingredients in Shakeology provide energy?

Now for a little recipe for you guys! I seriously looooooveeeee this one! SO SO good. I'm so glad Beachbody finally has vanilla! Did you know they once thought they never would have vanilla, because they were not willing to compromise and put in artificial ingredients for the vanilla taste? They finally found a plant (in MADAGASCAR!!! ya no big deal) and released this flavor this past June. Its been a hit at my house. So yesterday I made one called "Nutter Butter" and lemme tell you - amazing!
 

 
 - 1 serving (scoop) of Vanilla Shakeology
-1 cup almond milk (or skim)
-1/2 banana
-1/2 cup coarsely chopped raw walnuts
-1 tbsp. all natural peanut butter
-1/2 ice or more for thicker consistency
 
ENJOY!
