Fear of Failure

Alright. Here it is. My new plan. I'm actually a little scared to put this out there (especially because when the 21 Day Fix Extreme came out I made the same kind of statements). Anyway. Day after day I tell people to believe in themselves, that they can do whatever they want, they are worth it, and to not let the fear of failure hold them back...which is exactly what I've been doing. Once you get inside your head that you CANT do something...you WONT. Everyday I will need to remind myself of WHY I'm doing "this" and that I deserve to be happy in my skin. I am a coach, who needed a coach...especially after no progress with Inanity Max 30 thus far (except for feeling stronger and improving endurance!). I reached out to my fellow coach and success partner Lauren, just asking her about a BCAA supplement. She asked me some questions, and through chatting I ended up sharing my current before picture-yikes. She told me (after telling me I look fine haha good friend) that I need to get my nutrition in line...it's something you know but means more when someone else tells you.
(anyone remember me saying that to THEM?)

She suggested I do the 21 Day Fix Extreme- Countdown to Competition plan while finishing out my last weeks of Insanity Max 30. I immediately thought in my head- hell no there is no way IIII could do that plan. That's not for me.
 "You're unhappy right?".
Shit she got me. She said...you know what you need to do. You got this.

So. On Monday, I'll be starting the 21 Day Fix Extreme Countdown to Competition plan.
(note: before I go on-this is just a personal decision where I am challenging myself mentally, and testing my own willpower. I need to see for myself that I am capable! There are lots of plans to follow for weight loss and health success.)

A little bit about the Countdown to Competition plan: (CTC) is based on the concept of "carb depletion", which is a staple in the competition world. It is designed to help you burn through those last stores of body fat- while continuing to fuel your workouts and keep you healthy. It's not a way of eating you can do indefinitely but its effective when done occasionally in short bursts. So...I'm going to give it a try! I have to remind myself its only 21 days! Then after those 21 days I will move onto the regular 21 Day Fix meal plan which is much more balanced and doesn't cut anything out.

I know it wont be easy (even though Lauren says it will be haha). I know for sure it will test my willpower and strength. I will need to be prepared nutrition wise. I have to push harder during my workouts. I have to think of the finish line and my goal. Its way more than an image goal (although I'm not happy with that so it IS part of my goal). Too many times I give myself passes, or validate my excuses. I am a coach, but there are times where I struggle as well. I am definitely a stress eater. I have a salt tooth. I love all the wrong carbs. BUT, although I may struggle you will never see me quit! All I can do is try and give myself a good push.

Thank you Lauren for motivating me and guiding me. And thank you for accepting to be this coaches coach haha. Have I mentioned how much I love Beachbody for bringing me such SUPPORT in so many areas of my life?!

And family and friends... I know you will think I'm being too hard on myself! But I'm up for the challenge and I will allow myself a cheat meal once a week. My 30th is in 3 months and I wanna be feelin' good in that lake house we will be at youuu know!!!!  Anyway, I will be reminding myself daily....
motivation, inspiration, confidence

PS: Should I step even further outside of my comfort zone and do a video diary of my experience? Too much? haha let me know in the comments below if you would watch them and if you want to throw some encouragement  my way that would be greaaaaat!

Insanity Max 30| Week 3 & Thoughts

Hello Sunday! So... about my week 3 with Insanity Max 30. The honeymoon phase is over. LOL! I still LOVE the workouts, I still LOVE how I feel after my workouts...but the 2 week  motivation period started to fade. It's so weird how that can happen, and I now totally understand why some of my challengers aren't as excited when they first start off. Its new, its exciting, and your motivation is at an all time high. The initial fire can die down after you've been doing it or a little while, you start letting old habits slip in and before you know it the old phase, "I'll re-start Monday" creeps in.
Friday Fight is the real deal!
I'm reading this book, and it says this one of the worst things you can do. You just let yourself down and you self-sabotage yourself! How true is that. We need to respect ourselves enough to hold the promises we make to ourselves. We need to write down our goals, so when our discipline is on the line- we can re-read them and get the fire burning again. These plans aren't fool-proof and its possible you will have slip ups- you just have to acknowledge it and move on. But we have to somehow dig deep to find our self control and be our own motivation. We have to surround ourselves with like-minded people to encourage us and support us and so that we can learn from one another. I am a coach, but I am soooo grateful for my challengers and coaches, without having them to bond with and talk to I would be lost.
Ok.. so what does this have to do with my week 3 of Insanity Max 30? Well, technically this past week should've been my WEEK 4! But I had to re-start week 3 because I let myself miss some workouts (granted my sinuses were killin me smalls) and my I didn't create and follow a meal plan and so I wasn't on point with my nutrition. I know by now that if you want to see lasting results, you have to put the work in the kitchen. You have to fuel your body with fuel.
All wasn't lost. I made 21 Day Fix meatballs!

Here's a little story for you.

Ever have a moment you see yourself in a tagged photo and immediately regress to how you feel before your health and fitness journey started...or maybe you haven't started working towards what you want for yourself, but it's just a reminder that you need to do something.

It can put you in an instant bad mood, negative self talk creeps in, and makes you feel like all of your hard work has been for nothing.

It happens. It hapPened to me yesterday.Even to "health and fitness" people. As a coach there is a lot of SELF pressure to look a certain way, and be a ...certain way. We spend a lot of time comparing ourselves to other people, other coaches "high light reel" and we just assume that people think we should look fit and eat perfect. We put ourselves out there, we share our workout pics, our meal plans, what we are doing. We work really hard, and sometimes are so focused on helping others, that we don't put us #1...like WE tell everyONE else to do!!!

"Do as I say, not as I do" right? haha
follow your own advice!
Well, instead of staying in a bad mood, in a negative place...I looked up a picture where I was happy with myself and I will be my OWN motivation. NO one can do it for you. It has to start from the inside and you have to figure out WHY you really want and need to make changes. THEN....

make moves.
make a plan.
create goals.
ask others for help.
re-commit.
follow through.
be your own motivation.
focus on progress not perfection.

Can you relate?
Do you need a re-start?
Do you need to begin your story?
Can we do it together?

Week 4 of Insanity Max 30 starts next week and I am meal planning today! Ready to start your journey? We can come up with a plan just for you, according to YOUR goals. Together, as a team, we can do this. Click HERE.

Mom doing Max 30|Weeks 1&2 Recap

Alright! It's game time. My summer slim down plan arrived and I started 2 weeks ago. I did Insanity after my 2nd C-section (within two years) and I've also done T25. I've had great results each time. While I do enjoy lifting weights (and may still do so here and there) I really feel like my body responds best to this type of workout. Time to whittle the middle amirighhht. Like I said I've done both Insanity and T25 and let me tell you, this is a whole new challenge!!

I created my meal plan, I hung up the calendar and I did my measurements. You can get the details on Insanity Max 30 here, but this is what came with the program:
I have this on my white board to keep my goal in mind! Its a big goal, but if by the end I fee stronger and clothes fit better, I'll be happy!
I sat down on Sunday before I started and created my meal plan. What's really cool is that the meal plan mirrors that of the 21 Day Fix (as did the meal plan with PiYo). That plan is so simple and effective, it's no wonder Beachbody is implementing it with programs going forward. I created my meal plan, and I'm going to make adjustments daily as needed. I like to have something to go off of, but there are definitely times things change or I just don't want what I've planned so everyday I'm just going to track the "color" and stay as on track as I can. I'm also going to incorporate carb cycling in with my meal plan, I got a book on it and I'm excited to try it out and share my thoughts with you. I really have to kick up my water intake and really control my snacking! Specifically with salty stuff. I told myself I'm not allowed to buy PopChips for awhile lol.
The first weekend was a little challenging because it was our first long camping/boating weekend. I planned on having my Shakology for breakfast and bringing healthy snacks on the boat as well as making our sandwiches. It's no problem to throw chicken on the grill and have some veggies. But the chips, breakfast sandwiches and snacks that called (screamed?) my name, I didn't have the best self control. Yes, I'm a coach and I struggle!

The one good thing is that while you have an option to do Saturday workout, you have the weekends off. I did my Friday workout (which was big for me because I was running around) and my Monday workout later when we get home (I'm thankful for my accountability group because I knew I was going to be tired and try and push it off hahah). But I didn't miss any!

So my workout partner Carla and I tackled the first workout that Monday night. We survived lol. It was hard I'm not going to lie. I maxed out at 3 minutes. Mainly because my calves were seriously BURNING and I legit had to stop to stretch out! I've increased my max out time a little but I'm still getting the crazy calf burn...I need to stretch a little before and stretch longer afterwards. I have the foam roller but that's a mental game all in itself haha!! Here are some of our sweaty post workout selfies! For me, posting these daily on social media is just a way to keep myself accountable and maybe inspire some others to get their daily sweat in!

I swear I'm smiling on the inside haha. These workouts are tough so by the end I'm thinking, "did that just happen" and "is this real life" and "wow we just kicked ass"!

If you want to follow along my daily progress follow me on Instagram @healthcoachsarah or on Facebook! I'll also be posting updates here on the bloggy blog.

Before I go I just want to share a new challenge group I have coming up!
After some reflecting last night, I realized I need to do something that helps myself and others during the summer-which I think can be a struggle with bbqs, showers, the weekend get togethers, parties, wedddings ect ect ect as you can see with my camping trip I talked about above. First Camping Wknd of the Year & Randomness

So we just got back from our first camping "weekend". We counted Sunday-Tuesday morning a weekend I guess haha. We only went camping 45 minutes away but it was such a nice and needed little getaway. With Matt's schedule, my schedule, running around, baby/bridal showers and everything else, its so nice to somewhat unplug and just hang with the family. And I thoroughly enjoyed my new gravity chair- thank you Kohls 30% discount!! It's one of my favorite campgrounds because its so well taken care of. It's also a minute from a winery ;) They have a cute little playground area with a wooden train. Mamarazzi was taking advantage of the photo ops, until Nate said, "Ok one more picture, then can we play?". Sure, sorry kid!

I also got a lot of reading done in my new favorite book, "The Body Book", by Cameron Diaz. I highly highly suggest getting this book! Alot of the stuff I'm reading in it I've already learned along the way but its such a good refresher, and I'm learning new stuff too. She also has such a way of explaining things that make it so easy to understand. So yeah, loving that.

Although-my camping menu didn't really reflect to what I was reading. I usually have somewhat of a good mix of food while camping (and always have my Shakeology!), however this time it was a crap shoot! I was at a vineyard bridal shower (which was awesome, I highly suggest) and we followed that with a mamas night out. I had such a good time, and lots of laughs but lets just say I seriously cannot hang anymore! I had to recover the WHOLE WEEKEND. Seriously?!?! Time to get off the porch and hang your hat, SP!

We are only a few days away from my little mini-me, wing-baby, shadow, my little bff turning three! I literally cannot handle my kids birthdays!!! Of course I love celebrating them, and its so exciting! But the actual act of them turning another year older makes me sad! Maybe that's why I'm so bad at sending out invites to their parties lol. Ugh, one year I'll get it right.....maybe. Thankful for Facebook Events. True story. Real life.

Yes. We are doing Frozen. Can't say no to a cute little blonde girl who sings Let it Go and loves it! Bonus-finding decorations will be a BREEZE!!!! (As opposed to handmade, Pinterest inspired  Peppa Pig ones!).

How was your weekend? Are a super organized, on top if it mom? Or me with good intentions and running around last minute? Have you read The Body Book? Let me know your thoughts below!
